No More Meat!

Yes, this has been one of the first decisions in this new diet. No more meat! It has been alsmost half a year now, and actually, I don't miss it. Ok, I still eat fish, so I am not a vegetarian yet ... but hey, I might get there, sooner or later! There are many reasons for not eating meat - don't like the slaughter, don't like the kind of life the animals have to live before they become our meat, don't want to eat all the medicine they get - but maybe the main reason is the following: it feels good! So I'll stick to this decision.

Markttag! ... or: take care of yourselves.

This drawing is dedicated to my husband Simone and to our decision to change our eating habits!

 Many things have been changing in my life over the past three years. Three years ago, my husband fell ill, he was diagnosed with cancer and has been fighting it since then. He is doing a marvellous job in still being himself - which I think is very hard to do, considering the pain, the many doctors treating you like some kind of machine to repair, the fear, the anger and all that. So ... we are still a happy couple, a happy family, and I don't want to complain! Life has been hard many times, but life is hard for everybody.

Of course we knew right away that eating healthy food is important - don't we all? However, it took us three years to finally take a strong decision about it. To seriously take care of ourselves. It's still a process, trying to convince our children that whole grain rice is actually eatable, trying to convince myself that cookies are not part of the basic foods ... but we are on the way! :)

Here's the rule of thumb: as soon as you notice that something is bad for you - don't do it again. Don't eat, drink, whatever it again. Ever.

Easy, right? ;)
